SERIES SUMMARY
GAME 2: A little power, a little execution, and some defensive breakdowns by OSU added up to a series-tying 4-3 victory on Saturday, and the major storyline was another sterling performance from Patrick Monteverde and some clutch relief work by Micah Dallas. Kurt Wilson put the Red Raiders in front with a solo home run, Cal Conley’s well-executed bunt created a two-error play that scored two runs and Monteverde was nails for 7 innings to notch his 4th victory. The Cowboys threatened in the 9th against Dallas before he logged his 1st save with a strikeout and a fly ball. | RECAP
GAME 1: The Cowboys stuck the Red Raiders with their first shutout since 2019 and first at home since a 1-0 setback against West Virginia on March 29, 2018. Texas Tech managed only 6 hits, but none for extra bases for the first time in a game this season. Hitting when it mattered was a big problem: The Red Raiders were 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and 2-for-13 with a runner on base, which is a major reason why they left 10 on base. The offense’s woes negated Brandon Birdsell’s masterful 7-inning performance when he surrendered only 2 hits and 2 runs with 9 strikeouts and a walk. Levi Wells was solid out of the bullpen as well with 2 scoreless frames without a hit allowed. | RECAP
