Over the course of 24 hours between May 25 and 26, Texas Tech Baseball Special Assistant Ray Hayward received transplants of a new heart and a new kidney. The family requests the prayers of Red Raiders everywhere as Hayward continues to work through the pain and ongoing side effects associated with the procedures. Hayward has been regaining strength and has been building to walk further distances daily.
Hayward has been hospitalized since undergoing heart surgery on March 21, ultimately being added to the heart and kidney transplant lists. Due to the machine-related support Hayward’s heart required he was moved to the top of the transplant list.
Our stories about Hayward’s journey are linked below and we will provide updates when more information becomes available.
