LAST MEETING/SERIES: Tech has won three of the last four series in Austin (2013, 2015, 2017). The Red Raiders dropped the series in 2019 2 games to 1 despite outhitting the Longhorns 22-10 over the weekend. The Red Raiders had the leadoff man in 8 of 9 innings that year but went 1-for-15 with runners in scoring position to leave 12 runners stranded.
LAST TIME OUT: The Red Raiders took down the New Mexico Lobos 10-4 in a midweek tilt on the final trip to Lubbock for UNM Head Coach Ray Birmingham as he announced his retirement recently taking effect at the end of the season. Texas Tech honored Birmingham prior to the game on Wednesday. Last weekend the Red Raiders lost their first Big 12 series at home this season dropping the Friday game 12-4 to Baylor, bouncing back with a 4-1 victory Saturday behind 10 Ks from Micah Dallas, and dropped the rubber match 13-3 on Sunday.
