Oklahoma State at Texas TechAROUND THE HORN
- In nine home games this season, the Red Raiders have outscored opponents 90-22.
- Texas Tech is looking to extend its 12-game winning streak. The Red Raiders are in their longest run without a loss since a 14-game streak to open 2018. Their 21 consecutive home wins dating back to the 2020 season leads the nation.
- Dru Baker went 4-for-4, 1 2B, 3 R, 1 BB, 2 SB. The four hits are a career-high and he’s the second Red Raider to do it this year, the last time being Cal Conly against UCONN in the Friday game.
- Baker was also responsible for a double play, catching a flyout to left field and gunning a runner down at home for the 7-2 putout.
- Patrick Monteverde gave up his first run of the season, his three scoreless starts were the first since Dylan Dusek in 2014. He went 20.1 innings without giving up a run and has also gone 20.1 innings without issuing a walk.
- The Huskies have made six NCAA Tournament appearances under longtime coach Jim Penders and pushed Oklahoma State to the limit in 2019 before losing in the 2019 Oklahoma City Regional.
- Like Texas Tech, UConn was pegged as the preseason favorite in the Big East Conference and features the league’s preseason Player of the Year – Kyler Fedko.
- The Huskies began the season at 5th-ranked Virginia and lost two of three, but all three games were decided by either one or two runs. UConn split a mid-week set a Coastal Carolina earlier this week. All six of the Huskies’ losses are by one or two runs.
- UCONN is the first Big East opponent Texas Tech has faced since 2013 when the Red Raiders played UCONN, and the first Big East opponent to come to Dan Law Field since 2002
