SERIES SUMMARY
GAME 1: The Cowboys stuck the Red Raiders with their first shutout since 2019 and first at home since a 1-0 setback against West Virginia on March 29, 2018. Texas Tech managed only 6 hits, but none for extra bases for the first time in a game this season. Hitting when it mattered was a big problem: The Red Raiders were 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and 2-for-13 with a runner on base, which is a major reason why they left 10 on base. The offense’s woes negated Brandon Birdsell’s masterful 7-inning performance when he surrendered only 2 hits and 2 runs with 9 strikeouts and a walk. Levi Wells was solid out of the bullpen as well with 2 scoreless frames without a hit allowed.
