SERIES SUMMARY
GAME 2: Texas Tech’s offense still didn’t exactly crackle and pop – and the TCU pitchers were a big reason why – but Cal Conley made that a moot point with a leadoff walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to get the Red Raiders even in the series. Once the game went to the two bullpens, TCU’s Charles King and Ryan Sublette hung up matching 0s for most of the last 5 innings to send the game to extra innings. Conley worked his magic against normally untouchable River Ridings to halt Texas Tech’s three-game losing streak.
GAME 1: Six runs in the 1st inning and Russell Smith’s mastery were the right mix for the Horned Frogs to notch their 11th consecutive victory and more solid footing on top of the Big 12 Conference standings. Texas Tech managed only 6 hits and struck out 17 times against three TCU pitchers to thwart any real chance for a comeback. Jace Jung clouted his 12th home run and drove in another run with a single but the rest of the lineup struggled – not a surprise with Dylan Baker and Dylan Neuse out of action with injuries. The Red Raiders are on their first three-game skid since late April of 2019.
