SERIES REVIEW

Game 1: The Red Raiders rattled the Bulls for 8 extra-base hits, including 3 homers, and churned out 9 runs in the 5th inning to break away from a one-run game. Dru Baker stayed red hot with a 3-for-5 day with 2 runs and 4 RBIs, Cole Stilwell and Dillon Carter each clubbed their first long flies of the season and Drew Woodcox belted a pair of tanks in the big inning and chased home 4 runs. Brandon Birdsell picked up his 3rd win with a solid 5-inning stint (5 H, 1 R, 8 SO/0BB).

Game 2: Another day, 4 more hits for Baker as he keyed a methodical 13-hit attack that led to Texas Tech clinching the series with the shutout. Patrick Monteverde staked another claim as one of the best pitchers in the country this season with 7 shutout frames with 9 Ks and no walks. Micah Dallas logged 2 tidy frames with not a lot of noise. Dylan Neuse showed he is settling into the leadoff spot with a 3-for-4 effort and 2 runs scored. The Red Raiders didn’t have the same kind of explosion they unleashed Friday – and didn’t need it because of Monteverde and Dallas – and instead scored in 6 of 8 at-bats.
